Night temperature improves in Srinagar, dips in Gulmarg, Pahalgam

SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Night temperature dipped in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and improved in Srinagar even as Meteorological Department forecasted that dry weather would continue in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Currently weather in Kashmir valley is cloudy and clear in Jammu region with MeT predicting widespread light to moderate Snowfall/Rain in J&K with chances of Heavy Snowfall over higher reaches from evening of February 9 onwards.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 2.7 degree Celsius against 1.8 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 3.1 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest recording a low of minus 7.0 degree Celsius against minus 3.6 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 0.3 degrees below normal for the tourist resort during this period of the season.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded 0.4 degree Celsius against 1.6 degree Celsius. It was 1.9 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the year.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir had a low of minus 5.9 degree Celsius against minus 0.3 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 0.3 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season for the valley of shepherds.
Kokernag recorded a low of minus 0.7 degree Celsius which was 1.3 degree above normal during this period of the season for the picnic spot of south Kashmir.
The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius against minus 0.3 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 1.0 degree above normal during this period of the season, MeT office said.
