District level training programme under HADP held

REASI, Feb 8: Department of Sheep Husbandry, Reasi organised one day training programme on "Reorienting Priority: Self-Sufficiency in Mutton" under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) here today at Conference Hall of DC Office, Reasi in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Department of Agriculture, Reasi. The programme was attended by a number of gazetted as well as non-gazetted (technical) officers from Sheep Husbandry Department, Reasi. District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Reasi, Dr.PP Sajotra warmly welcomed the participants and said that 29 projects approved under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors can be the game changer in the overall agricultural and allied sectors development in the area. He guided the participants on the latest technologies in sheep husbandry and discussed on entrepreneurship development in sheep husbandry. Sr.Scientist & Head, KVK, Reasi ,Dr.Banarsi Lal guided participants on the Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and stressed on value addition in mutton for more returns. He also discussed on the modern technological interventions in sheep husbandry. Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi, Sh.Harbans Singh guided participants on quality nutrition for commercial sheep husbandry and stressed on the improved breeds of sheep for more profits. He also discussed on entrepreneurship in sheep husbandry and emphasised on the close coordination for successful implementation of these projects. Dr. R.K. Manhas, Deputy Director, SBF Reasi spoke on the modern breeds of sheep and highlighted the modern technologies in sheep husbandry. During the programme, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed Kawa, VAS and Dr. Inzmam Ul Haq, VAS delivered the detailed presentation and imparted the training to the concerned trainees.
