Resettling KPs in Valley
2/10/2023 12:22:11 AM

After the scrapping of Article 370 the government has taken multiple steps to expedite the process of rehabilitating displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
Almost all the vacancies under the Prime Minister’s rehabilitation package for Kashmiri Pandit migrant employees have been filled in the Union Territory.
Construction of dwellings for KPs is going on at a rapid pace. The government has set a target of constructing 2700 dwellings for KPs across Kashmir by the end of this year.
Almost 80% to 85% PM Package employees are posted at district headquarters in Kashmir and some have been posted at tehsil headquarters after the security audit of the areas. The government has ensured that no one is posted at any office or school situated in remote isolated areas.
The KP employees posted in Kashmir were shifted to safe locations after the terrorists carried out the target killings of the members of the community.
An attempt was made to recreate a 1990s like situation when KPs had to leave everything behind for saving their honour and lives. But this time around terrorists didn’t succeed in their designs as the security forces acted swiftly against them and eliminated the killers.
The government has remained firm on its resolve that it won’t allow anyone to migrate from Kashmir.
The security around the KP dwellings has been beefed up and a strict vigil is being maintained to keep anti-peace elements at bay.
Laws that were formulated to retrieve the properties of Kashmiri Pandits have been implemented in letter and spirit. Of 8000 applications received on Migrant Portal around 6000 cases have been resolved.
The J&K administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is putting in all the efforts to ensure that the dwellings being constructed for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley are completed well in time.
These steps are being taken to make the dignified return of KPs to Kashmir a reality.
The government has cleared all the confusions and has sent a clear message to the anti-peace elements that they won’t be allowed to succeed in their designs and Kashmiri Pandits will be resettled in the Valley.
