Court rejects bail to two involved in manufacturing fake currency

Jammu, September, 17:- Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Mr. Sanjay Dhar has rejected bail application of Rajeev Kumar s/o Sat Pal r/o Nowshera and Afzal Hussain s/o Noor Mohd r/o Muradpur, Rajouri, who were arrested by the police and recovered fake Indian Currency notes from their possession.
In the detailed order of application seeking bail, CJM Jammu after hearing Chief Prosecuting Officer Maroof Ahmed Manhas appearing for the state and Advocate Jugal Kishore appearing for the accused persons observed that the allegation against the accused persons are manufacturing fake currency and there after dealing in this illicit trade. The allegations are very serious in nature because such a trade has the potential of destabilizing the economy of the country. According to the police record that fake currency note were seized from the possession of both accused. Accused Rajeev Kumar has made a disclosure before the police on the basis of which the police have recovered a scanning machine and the paper used for manufacturing of fake currency notes. Even some fake currency notes were seized on the basis of such disclosure, the fact was that accused were caught wile carrying fake currency notes with them shows that they are involved in trafficking of theses currency notes. Thus there is overwhelming evidence on record to connect the accused with the alleged crime. The accused are alleged to have committed offences relating to counterfeiting of currency notes, which are punishable U/Ss 489-A/489-B and 489-C RPC. Some of these offences carry punishment up to life imprisonment. While grating bail to the accused involved in such serious offences, Court has to be very cautions and circumspect in its approach. The act of the accused has the tendency to shatter the economy of the country. The development, security and stability of a country or depend upon its economy. When the economy of a nation gets shuttered, it affects the development security and stability of the country in an adverse manner. With these observations Court dismissed the bail application of the accused.
According to the police story on September 6, 2006 during the Naka near Bhathandi, police asked the accused to stop but the accused tried to run away, however, they were nabbed by the police and upon their search recovered fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 10,000/- from accused Rajeev Kumar and Rs 5000/- of fake currency notes from accused Afzal Hussain. After the recovery they were arrested and on their investigation recovered a scanner used for manufacturing of fake currency notes and paper and a large quantity of fake currency notes of Rs 100 and Rs 50 denomination and case was registered and investigation is going on.
