Jammu, Jan 2: While Congress and the National Conference are reported to have hammered out most of modalities for running their coalition government, it was today made official that the rotation of the post of Chief Minister will not be the part of mechanism. Meanwhile, the National Conference president Omar Abdullah is all set to sworn in as Chief Minister on Monday at the head of a six-member coalition Ministry but there will be no rotation of Chief Ministership. After a meeting with Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, Omar told reporters there that such power sharing created uncertainties and inconsistency in the governance as was observed in the last PDP-Congress government in the state. “I recommended six year policy for the Cong-NC government to provide it ample time to work on its policies,” said Omar, the next J&K CM in waiting. He further thanked the Congress chief, who, Omar said well received his point. Reportedly, both Congress and NC have reached an understanding on the same. Omar Abdullah, will be taking oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on 5th of this month, also said a clear no to any pre-conditions. Omar also added that the Deputy Chief Minister would be from Congress. According to sources, Congress may opt for the Deputy Chief Minister post and the name will be decided by the party itself. On January 5th, three NC men and three Congress men are slated to be sworn in along with Omar. Sources said that National Conference leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Surjeet Singh Slathia and Tsetan Namgyal could be the first three to take oath. Similarly from Congress camp the first three to take oath may be Choudhary Mohammad Aslam, Tara Chand and Taj Mohiuddin. Sonia Gandhi will also be attending the swearing-in ceremony on Monday along with others. Meanwhile, the National Conference is all set to join the UPA, Congress sources said on Friday. NC President Omar Abdullah has written to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi expressing his party's desire to join the UPA. The NC has two members in the Lok Sabha. The legislature groups of NC and Congress will meet tomorrow separately before calling on Governor NN Vohra to stake claim to form government. Top leaders of NC and Congress held a 90-minute meeting in Delhi yesterday and decided to have a joint mechanism to review the performance of the government. "All functional details will be discussed later. But there will be a joint mechanism to review the performance of the government," AICC general secretary Prithviraj Chavan said after the meeting. The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, AK Antony, Saifuddin Soz, former J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chavan and Congress President's political secretary Ahmad Patel.
