| PK reschedules 3rd world conference to April | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 03- Panun Kashmir in its national executive meeting, chaired by its convener Dr Agnishekhar, held a thorough review of the current status of the preparations for the third world Kashmiri Pandit conference and observed that certain national and global events have affected the preparations in the manner the world event was envisaged. It was observed that foreign dignitaries and delegates have expressed their reservations in view of adverse travel advisories issued by the respective countries to their citizens against traveling to India in view of the fallouts of the Mumbai carnage and Indo-Pak tension. Members also observed that the delegate enrollment process in Jammu suffered due to recent J&K assembly elections. Under these circumstances members decided to reschedule the world conference to April 11,12, 2009, from the original date of January 18 and 19. The venue, however, has not been changed and the conference would be held in Jammu as per the fresh schedule. Members pledged to continue the preparations, enrollment and other allied jobs with even more enthusiasm and dedication. It was felt that the holding of WKPC3 as per the schedule under the present circumstances may involve some compromises somewhere and which might defeat the whole purpose of conference. Conference chief coordinator D.K. Koul said that the purpose of holding the third world conference in Jammu is to give to the community and other stake holders a really world class event and under no circumstances any dilution would have been acceptable. Rescheduling would enable us to do in a manner befitting the occasion, Panun Kashmir in a handout said.
