| House for Mr CM | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 2: Chief Minister-elect Omar Abdullah wants to make a different –he prefers to stay at his private residence instead of moving into Chief Minister’s bungalow, both in Jammu and Srinagar. The security agencies, however, are not quite easy with this suggestion as Chief Minister’s residence is not about family requirements only but also involves security and protocol requirements. In Jammu, Omar lives with father Dr Farooq Abdullah at family’s house in Bathindi. In Srinagar he lives separately at Gupkar Road. Omar Abdullah has decided to stay in his present three-bedroom house in summer capital Srinagar and not shift to the palatial chief minister's official residence. "I have a small family. My two children would be lost in that huge mansion. In fact, I don't need such a huge mansion to live in," Omar told reporters in Srinagar today. Known as a family man, Omar likes spending time with his family whenever he can. As parliament member and president of the regional National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah has been living in a small three-bedroom house on Gupkar Road here close to the private residence of his father, Farooq Abdullah. During the chief ministership of Ghulam Nabi Azad, the state government constructed a palatial residence overlooking the Dal Lake and Azad had started living there towards the end of the Congress-People's Democratic Party (PDP) government. The government fell last July after the PDP withdrew support.
