| Army Day Exhibition begins | | Awareness inspiration for youth to join Armed Forces: Vohra | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: It was an extremely impressive display of weapons, equipment and systems which marked the beginning of this year's Army Day Celebrations in Jammu, with the Governor, Mr N N Vohra, taking a round of the exhibition and evincing keen interest in the country's military might. Vohra was briefed by Major General D L Choudhry, General Officer Commanding of the 26 Infantry Division and his senior officers about the latest weaponry and equipments inducted into the Army. The Governor, who has served as the Secretary Defence Production and Defence Secretary in his service career, visited each of the stalls which displayed the advanced technical know-how and formidable fire power of the Army, and was given demonstrations of some of the weapons and equipments. The exhibition showcased the heavy and medium machine guns, rocket launchers, artillery, tanks and armoured personnel carriers reflecting the war-fighting capabilities of the Indian Army. The exhibition aimed at motivating and generating awareness among the youth, had set up stall, titled "Indian Army: The Nation Above All, which provide information for the youth and inspire to enable enter the National Defence Academy, Officers Training Academy and the Indian Military Academy. The Governor congratulated the General Officer Commanding and all ranks of the 26 Infantry Division for organizing the event, as part of the Army Day Celebrations, hoping that the exhibition will inspire the youth to take up challenging career in the Army. He emphasized the significance of such exhibitions, saying that such events enable the youth, particularly young school-goers to gain better idea about the Army and inspire them to serve the nation in the Armed Forces.
