Kashmir parts receive rains, Gulmarg gets fresh snowfall

SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Parts of Kashmir valley received rains while the ski resort of Gulmarg experienced a fresh snowfall on Tuesday, officials said.
The Meteorological Department forecast of mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district received 10 Cms of fresh snowfall overnight much to the delight of the tourists at the valley of meadow. It also received 10.4mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours, the MeT office said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, received traces, Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway received 4.2cms of rainfall, tourist hot spot of Pahalgam 4.3mm , the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara 7.6mm, Kokernag 4.6mm of rainfall during the past 24hours till 0830hours today.
Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature at 5.0 degree Celsius against 5.3 degree Celsius on Tuesday . It was 4.1 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Qazigund had a low of 4.7 degree Celsius against 3.1 degree Celsius while Kokernag settled at 3.7 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 0.8 degree Celsius against 1.7 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 4.8 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Kupwara recorded at 3.1 degree Celsius against 4.5 degree Celsius a day ago which was 3.4 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season, MeT office said.
The MeT office said the weather will remain mainly Clear to Partly Cloudy at most places from February 22-25 while there is possibility of light rain, snowfall over higher reaches at scattered places during February 26-27. The weather will remain partly cloudy on February 28 and thereafter there is no forecast of any major rain, snowfall till the end of the month. MeT office said.
