Samoohik Shivratri celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits

Jammu, Feb 21: To continue with the tradition of celebrating the annual Samoohik Shivratri festival by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, Anand Nagar Bohri, a large number of Kashmiri pandits joined the celebrations at the Kendra. The event started with the lighting of traditional lamp along with vedic mantras. The welcome address was delivered by the president of Kendra Dr. Maharaj K Bharat who detailed about the various religious and social activities conducted by SSK. He also discussed about the tradition and significance of Shivratri among the Kashmiri Pandits.
Chief Guest of the function Sh. Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary, J&K Govt talked about the spiritual and cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the need for working together in unity for the growth and prosperity of the community. He also gave certain instances and exhaled the youth of Kashmiri Hindu community for creating an environment to preserve the legacy of the saints and philosophers who have led the community in coming out of the uncertainty and turmoil in the historical past. To seek the wealth of knowledge and spirituality one needs to control the desires of self was the mantra of chief guest to the audience.
Guest of Honour, Swami Yagyadharanad, Secretay Ramkrishna Mission, Jammu congratulated the Kashmiri Pandit community especially the younger generation for their efforts in preserving their cultural legacy despite displacement of the community from their roots. While discussing the role of Swami Vivekananda for the welfare of society, he emphasized that seva to mankind is the only way to seek the blessings of lord Shiva. The calendar (Prerna-Chitra) for the year 2023-2024 bearing the portrait of Kalhana Pandit the author of Rajatarangini was released by the guests on dice. Earlier Sh Shanti Lal Sidh sung Shiva bhajans and Geeta path was recited by Lakshya Raina, Muskan Razdan and Vanshika Razdan, students of Bhramrishi Geeta Pathshala Jagti. Miss Adhitri Naru performed Shiv Tandva at the moment. To conclude the Shivratri celebration samoohik aarti was performed. Maharaj Krishan Bhat General Secretary of the Kendra thanked the participants for an overwhelming response and joining the Shivratri celebration.
