Sikhs hail Omar’s decision of keeping away tainted politicians

Jammu, Jan 4- Appreciating the CM designate Omar Abdullah’s decision not to take the tainted political leaders involved in various criminal acts and scandals into the cabinet, S.Avtar Singh Khalsa, Convenor Sikh Welfare Forum has appealed to all the political parties to weed out the criminal elements from political system in order to give an efficient and sincere polity to the people of the state.
Addressing media persons here today Avtar Singh welcomed the formation of NC-Congress coalition government in the state and complimented Omar for his clean image.
The Sikh leader also reiterated the community’s demand of resignation by T S Wazir from the President-ship of State Gurudwara Prabandak Board as he has been rejected by the electorate especially the Sikhs in the just concluded assembly elections because of his ‘tainted past and anti- panthak activities.
Mohinder Singh chief organizer Bhai Kanhiya Nishkam Sewa Society who also addressed the press conference strongly criticized the manner in which politics has been criminalized by elements like Wazir and alleged that Wazir during campaigning distributed wine and other goodies to the people to garner their support, despite being the president of religious organization of Sikhs.
Another Sikh leader R anjit Singh who is also the member of the SGPB, lambasted Wazir
for using money and muscle power to corrupt the Sikh youth by distributing wine and other addictive items to the electorate during assembly elections and demanded his immediate resignation from the Board.
Kultar Singh, President Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Ravinder Singh general secretary Sikh welfare forum, Manmohan Singh Chairman Gole-Gujral, Harmeet Singh, Parveen Singh and Surinder Singh were also present at the press conference.
