| Chaman elected BJP LP leader | | |

Jammu, Jan 4: Senior BJP leader and newly elected Member of Legislative Assembly from Jammu West, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has been elected as leader of the party’s Legislature Party Leader.
A meeting of 11 newly elected MLAs of the BJP was held here today where Chaman Lal was unanimously elected as leader of the Legislature Party. The meeting was held in presence of central observers.
The BJP central leadership has sent a two-member observer team to Jammu to oversee the election of its State Legislature Party leader of its 11-member team. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board. The observers are BJP General Secretary Thevar Chand Gehlot and former Himachal Pradesh chief nminister Shanta Kumar.
The BJP increased its tally, which had a mere one member in the dissolved Assembly to a record 11 MLAs in the just concluded elections, ending the monopoly of the Congress in the Jammu region.
