Reimagebydiksha Academy conducted session on ‘How to eliminate self douts and create dynamic personality’ for JU students

Diksha Dogra- Founder of ReimagebyDiksha Academy conducted a session on “How to eliminate self-doubts and create a dynamic personality” for students of Jammu University.
Self-doubts are those beliefs that make us uncertain of our abilities to do or achieve something in life. It invisibly kills our dreams and almost us. For me, it’s like an invisible killer.
What causes Self-Doubts?
1) Past Experiences and Mistakes: We all know that past experiences have a massive impact on our lives and how we feel today. Anytime we reach some similar experience, we tend to feel those emotions again. Your subconscious mind will want to do everything possible to avoid feeling those emotions again. But remember this: Your past does not define your future. If you constantly live by your old mistakes, you’ll never make room for new opportunities.
2) Comparison to others: We all compare ourselves to others. We compare our work to our colleagues’ or compare our lives with people’s lives on social media sites like Instagram or Facebook. We mentally challenge ourselves to outsell, outperform or outwit or competitors. However, not all competition is healthy competition. Healthy competition pushes you to try your best and improve your performance for your own greater good. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday not to others.
3) Childhood and Upbringing: Childhood and Upbringing play a huge role in shaping your mindset. During our childhood, there are some people who judge you or told you that you were not enough. They are just feeding your villain’s voice and making it strong. When you’re not given the proper support as a child or young adult, you can develop a habit of always questioning yourself. This is why it’s so important to spend time working on your mental health.
How to overcome self-doubt?
1) Develop Positive Mindset: It’s very imperative to develop a positive mindset when it comes to banishing self-doubts. Whenever you feel the hype of inner voice, interrupt it and reframe it in a more positive way. For example: After all the preparation of your interview, you might fear that you won’t be able to pass that. So you can reframe that thought into a positive one – I am well prepared for my interview and I am going to nail it.
2) Surround Yourself with Positive People: With negative thoughts running through your head, it’s key you surround yourself with positive people. By hanging with a more positive crowd, you’ll become more adjusted to hearing positive things about yourself. You can learn to take compliments and, in turn, start giving those compliments back to yourself.
3) Affirmations: Affirmations are like multi-vitamins to boost your self-confidence. You can use these multivitamins to raise your heroic voice and putting down the villain’s one. However, you need to feel what you are affirming else it will be useless. For example: If you are affirming – I am amazing but deep down you are feeling sad then it’s fruitless. You need to bring that emotion and energy of how an amazing person feels.
4) Gratitude: Gratitude is an antidote to self-doubts. Keep a gratitude journal to be in a state of gratitude. A gratitude journal is a dedicated space where you list out all the things to be grateful for. You can journal about anything: Your sense of humor, your job, your family or anything else you love about your life. The purpose of a gratitude journal is to remind yourself of all the good that surrounds you — even when your self-doubt has you convinced that nothing is going right.
5) Self-Compassionate: Self-doubt makes feel like you’re unworthy or incapable. Over time, you can begin to not like who you are. But remember this: There is only one you in this world and that is your superpower. Start to practice self-compassion — like by reminding yourself of your favourite qualities or personal accomplishments. It’s important to realize that you have an inner hero buried underneath that self-doubt — you just need to release it.
