Assembly elections inevitable to end people's woes: Rattan Lal
2/23/2023 10:45:57 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 23: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has termed the incumbent Govt as a rudderless ship sans any direction that is rolling out anti-people policies one after the other. This has led to utter chaos and confusion in Jammu and Kashmir with the miseries of the people multiplying with the passage of each day, he added. He asserted that miseries of the people can only be done away with by the popular democratically elected Govt for which the Assembly elections should be held at the earliest.
Rattan Lal Gupta stated this here today during his interaction with NC District Presidents of Jammu Urban, Rural A ,B and Samba including Provincial President , District Presidents Women Wing.
The senior National Conference leader said that there is a lot of hue and cry across the Jammu and Kashmir as people are suffering on account of the much ill conceived policies of the present dispensation. He said that the present dispensation that is functioning as the proxy Govt of BJP in absence of the duly elected Govt in J&K has been functioning arbitrarily displaying unprecedented degree of arrogance. This is evident from the Govt's decision of imposing property tax that has left the Mayors of Jammu and Srinagar and the elected members of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees speechless as they have not been consulted while implementing property tax in Jammu and Kashmir, terming it as undemocratic and against the norms of natural justice.
Moreover, unemployment is at its peak, the prices of essentials are sky rocketing and the farmers continue to be the worst sufferers due to the wrong policies of the Administration and amid such a grim situation the Govt has been resorting to demolition and eviction drives leaving the common and poor people shelterless. As if all this was not enough, and the Govt has now started overburdening the people with taxes, the latest one being the imposition of property tax.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that people can get rid of all these miseries only when there will be a duly elected Govt in place in J&K. He appealed to the Govt especially the Election Commission of India to hold elections in J&K at the earliest without any wastage of time.
