| Senior cops not invited to swearing in ceremony | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5- For the first time Police officers of the rank of Inspector Generals and DIGs had been excluded from the list of invitees to swearing in ceremony of the council of ministers headed by Omar Abdullah. The invitation had been limited to the rank of Directors General of Police. The two only IGs seen in and outside the Zorawar Singh Auditorium, where the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues were sworn in, were Inspector General police Jammu ranger, K.Rajendra and IG security. Both were on duty to supervise the security arrangements. During the previous oath taking ceremonies all IGs and some DIGs used to be included in the list of invitees. Official sources said that since the venue of the swearing in ceremony had to be shifted from Raj Bhawan lawns to the University auditorium because of weather problems the list of the invitees had to be curtailed in view of space problems. However, a senior police officer said that there were not more than four IGs and an equal number of DIGs in Jammu who could have been invited. These eight to 10 officers could have been easily accommodated in the University auditorium. He said during the last two days IGs and DIGs had been working round the clock for making elaborate security arrangements in and outside the auditorium, besides in the entire city.
