JAMMU, Mar 1: The Deputy Mayor along with concerned officers were here to review the progress and implementation of projects awarded to Bharat Electronics Limited and Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance agency (JaKeGa) by Jammu Smart City Limited. Deputy Mayor Jammu Baldev Singh Billawaria said that Jammu City will soon have an integrated command and control centre (ICCC), intelligent traffic system and web GIS-based e-bill pay for civic services under the Jammu Smart City project. The ICCC will integrate all civic and essential services on a single platform to facilitate monitoring and addressing public issues in real-time.
Deputy Mayor Jammu said that the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) system is a unique initiative towards realizing the dream of Digital India of Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi.
He further stated that the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will have advanced technology which will help the people to know about the road and traffic conditions in the city. The ICCC will also have the facility to monitor the CCTV cameras installed at various locations in the city. This will help in ensuring public safety and security. The ICCC project will help in establishing a collaborative framework where input from different functional departments of Jammu Municipal Corporation and other stakeholders such as the JDA, transport, water, fire, police, e-governance, etc, can be assimilated and analysed on a single platform, resulting in aggregated city-level information. Further, this aggregated city-level information can be converted to actionable intelligence, which would be propagated to relevant stakeholders and citizens. Regarding the intelligent traffic management system, it was informed that out of 64 junctions of Jammu city, the BEL team has selected 44 junctions for implementation of the project in Phase 1 for which a ground survey of 44 traffic junctions has been completed. The proposed system will help in detecting violations like a black-listed vehicle, automatic number plate recognition, red light violation, speed limit violation, triple riding detection, no helmet detection, no seat belt detection, mobile usage while driving, and other illegal activities automatic e-Challan generation.
The Deputy Mayor also informed that the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) will help in the smooth flow of traffic and reduce traffic congestions on roads. The ITS will be equipped with sensors, cameras and other tools to monitor the traffic and provide real-time data about the traffic situation. The Deputy Mayor said that the Jammu Smart City project will also provide the citizens with a web GIS-based e-bill pay system which will make it easier for them to pay their bills online. This will help in reducing the burden on the public exchequer and also improve the efficiency of the civic services.
The Deputy Mayor also said that the Jammu Smart City project will provide the citizens with world-class infrastructure and civic services. He said that the project will help in boosting the economy of the city and create employment opportunities for the youth.
