| 5.8 quake rocks Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 5: A quake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked the summer capital and other parts of the Valley in Jammu and Kashmir today, second time during the past 24 hours, forcing people to run out of their houses. The tremors, which were felt at 0443 hrs, lasted about several seconds. Despite biting cold outside, people rushed out of their homes to take shelter in open space in panic as the entire region falls in the most earthquake prone Zone-5. A weather office spokesman said this morning the tremblor was epicentered at 36.60 degrees north latitude and 71.0 degrees east longitude in Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan. Yesterday 6.4 intensity quake rocked Srinagar and other areas in the valley.
