| Fire breaks out in assembly complex | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 6: With the efforts of assembly staff, the building of J&K assembly was saved from getting destroyed in a fire which broke out around 3.25 P.M today from a room and spread to other adjoining rooms of the building. As per eye witness, smoke came out from a lower room of the building and within minutes fire spread to other rooms. The staff while getting notice of the fire raised the alarm and rang up fire brigade. The fire brigade which took some time to reach the spot, the officials of the assembly manually tried their best to control the fire from spreading further. The building which is located inside of the civil secretariat complex could have proved a disastrous, if fire would not have been extinguish well in time. In the fire some files, stationary and furniture etc get destroyed. While, talking to this reporter, a senior official said, the fire which broke out is due to short circuit as wiring in the building is very old. He said, number of times the concerned authorities were asked to change the wiring, but no attention was paid towards this. He ruled out any sabotage in the incident and added the exact reason behind fire is yet to be ascertained. All the top officials, which include Divisional Commissioner IGP, DIG’s and Director Fire services reached the spot and supervised the operation.
