Chaman want stringent measures against terrorism
1/7/2009 9:45:11 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 07- Emphasizing for stern measures to tackle the menace of cross border terror, BJP Legislators’ Party leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has maintained that Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and other such like outfits are the auxiliary apparatus of the Pakistan Army and are being employed for low cost war against India. The civil Government in this hub of armed militancy operates at the dictates of Army Commanders, he added.
Addressing a gathering at the border village of Jhandi in Hiranagar sector today, Prof. Gupta said that it is good that the Centre has somehow realized the ground realities but the leaders of the Congress led UPA Government owes an explanation that why earlier a soft approach was adopted and why the POTA was abolished and why the guards were lowered at the sensitive places.
Referring to the proxy war launched by Pakistan in late eighties under Operation Topack framed by the then Pak-military ruler General Zial-ul-Haq, Prof. Gupta said that various terrorist outfits were raised under a policy for having low cast war as Pakistan had suffered defeats in regular wars of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
This proxy war still continues although in 2001, Pakistan was forced by the Vajpayee led NDA Government to stop this non-sense, he added and pointed out that it was only in 2001 that Pakistani troops stopped cover fire to infiltrators and the military ruler, General Musharraf was forced to publicly promise that no soil under control of Pakistan would be allowed for cross border terror, he recalled and regretted that after the change of guards at New-Delhi, the Congress led UPA dispensation adopted some strange postures under their ‘vote bank’ which had provided encouragement to secessionism and continuance of cross border terror to the extent that menace spread in various parts of the country.
Prof. Gupta assailed the previous coalition of the State for not providing compensation of their losses to the farmers of border areas fully because of the movement and control of certain areas by the Army. He said that it was strange that during the NDA regime adequate funds were provided to the State Government, but on various pretexts these
were not dispersed to the farmers.
He also regretted that despite expiry of over sixty years the problems of refugees and migrants still persisted due to the communal mindset of the Congress and its allies.
The BJP leader asked the NC-Congress coalition leaders to come out clearly to keep up their election promises especially their scheme of things to provide jobs to unemployed youths.
Earlier, on his arrival at Jhandi Ashram, Prof. Gupta was accorded welcome by Mahant Surya Nand and others including by the Hiranagar MLA Durga Dass, Shashi Raina, Dr. Bali, Rajeev Jasrotia , Banu Shah and Rash Pal. Senior BJP leader Thakur Ranjeet Singh was also present on the occasion.
