| Probe in assembly complex fire incident | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JAN 7: The Government has appointed Mr. S. L. Bhat, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development Department, as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the fire incident which broke out in the Legislative Assembly Complex, here yesterday afternoon.
This follows the directions of the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah to have the incident enquired into.
The Development Commissioner, Power and the Director General, Fire Services, will assist the Inquiry Officer in conduct of the enquiry.
According to a Government order issued here today, the terms of reference of the Inquiry Officer include ascertaining the cause(s) which resulted in the breakout of the fire, establishing whether there has been any lapse on the part of the Assembly Secretariat/Staff In-charge Electric Maintenance Wing, fixing specific responsibility of any person or persons involved and suggesting remedial measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.
The Inquiry Officer will submit the report within a period of seven days.
