Early Times report SRINAGAR, JAN 7: Former Chief Minister, Mr. G. M. Shah, who passed away yesterday, was laid to rest with full State honours, here today. The nimaz-e-jinaza of Mr. Shah was offered at Polo Ground in which large number of people besides the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, ministers, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, newly-elected legislators, Mr. Irfan Shah, Mr. Nasir Sogami and Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, senior officers, representatives of various political, religious and social organizations, close relatives as well as friends participated. Mr. Devinder Rana, MLC, was also present. Later, the body of the departed leader was taken in a procession with full State honours to his ancestral graveyard, at Ziyarat Hazrat Syed Mohammad Mantaqi (RA), in Chattabal, where he was laid to rest. A contingent of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police lowered their arms as the body of the departed leader was being laid to rest. Earlier, former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and a large number of people from various walks of life visited the residence of the late leader from early morning today to offer condolences with the bereaved family. They expressed sympathies with Begum Khalida Shah, Mr. Muzaffar Shah and other members of the bereaved family. The State Government had announced a holiday today and all Government and educational institutions remained closed as a mark of respect to the departed soul. The Government has also announced a three-day State mourning during which there will be no official entertainment. The National and the State flags will fly at half-mast at all buildings and places, where these are flown.
