| Gujjars want separate Ministry for Tribal Affairs | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU JAN: 8: Congratulating the Governor N.N. Vohra for conducting peaceful assembly election is the state, the president Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Maha Sabha (ABGMS) Eshfaq-ur-Rehman said, the new Government headed by Omar Abdullah should create separate ministry for tribal affairs in the state on centre pattern. Addressing media persons here today said, since the expansion of the ministry is the offing. Therefore it is high time that head of the ministries Omar Abdullah on the analogy of central govt. where tribal act and independent tribal ministry exist create a separate ministry of tribal affair for which Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Maha Sabha has been struggling as there is every justification for our demand because in J&K state total population of the tribal has been mentioned in the govt. census to be 25 lacks (which include gaddi, sippi, budhist and kargil tribal) on the same reason this will make already created separate directorate of tribal affair on our struggle really purposeful on the ground. Poswal said that in view of election five gurjar candidates inn the recent election and marginal defeat of other two candidates, Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Maha Sabha Delhi is organizing a programme on January 18 to felicitate the successful Gurjar M.L.A.
