KVK distributes poultry birds to rural youths

Reasi, Mar 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu(SKUAST-J) distributed poultry birds to the rural youths from Judd, Panthal,Tanda, Gunn, Dhanwa, Talwara etc. villages in Reasi district of J&K and guided them about the scientific poultry farming. The birds were distributed under Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture (ARYA) Project.
Major objective of the project is to start agri-entrepreneurships among the rural youths specially in poultry farming. Egg laying poultry birds of Chabro variety were distributed to the rural youths so that they can become poultry entreprepreneurs and enhance their farm income. The birds were distributed under Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) scheme and farmers were fully educated on the scientific poultry farming. Before poultry birds’ distribution Dr.Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi guided the rural youths on the entrepreneurship development in poultry farming.
He said that poultry can play a significant role in enhancing the income and employment among the rural youths of the district. He guided the youths on the scientific management of poultry farms and highlighted the balance dose of feed especially for the poultry birds. He emphasised on the organic poultry production by which farmers can generate more income and employment. KVK, Reasi is making strenuous efforts to start the agri-entrepreneurship in the rural areas by which the income and employment among the rural youths can be increased.
During the programme many quarries on poultry farming were raised by the farmers which KVK scientists answered in a very satisfactorily way. The farmers appreciated the KVK efforts especially for the rural youths. The programme was assisted bySanjay Kumar and concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist cum Head, KVK, Reasi with the formal vote of thanks.
