| Sharma accorded rousing reception at Akhnoor | | | Early Times Report
Jammu January 08, 2008- Cabinet Minister Mr. Shyam Lal Sharma has said that the coalition government was committed to solve people’s problems in a phased manner. He said that government was aware of people’s problems and their aspiration shall be taken care of. He was addressing a well attended public meeting at Akhnoor today. Lauding the role of UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in ensuring free and fair elections in the State, Mr. Sharma said that Centre has been always helping the state in assuring bright future and prosperity of the people,. Mr. Sharma assured the people that he will leave no stone unturned in mitigating the grievances of the people and also solving long pending problems. Stressing for character building and sincere attitude, Mr. Sharma appreciated the people for fighting a fight of principles during recent elections, adding that people should adhere to basic principles of secularism, democracy and above all mutual brotherhood in future too. Earlier, a rousing reception was accorded to Mr. Sharma on his first visit to Akhnoor today after getting inducted into the cabinet of Omar Abdullah led coalition government. Roads, lanes, bye-lanes were decorated with banners and buntings. Thousands of people from all walks of life including men, women and children stood in queues to receive the popular leader with the garlands in their hands, making the atmosphere colourful and enchanting. Minister responded by waiving his hands expressing his gratitude to the people of Akhnoor for electing him legislator as well as for expressing their great enthusiasm during today’s welcome to Akhnoor tehsil. Member Parliament Mr. Madan Lal Sharma, several local leaders, senior citizens and youth were present on the occasion. MP Mr. Madan Lal Sharma also addressed the gathering and stressed for active cooperation for strengthening the hands of government. Local leaders also addressed the function.
