Awareness programmes held during Road Safety Week

Jammu January 08, 2008- The Motor Vehicle Department, Traffic Police, Education Department and Non-Government Organisations jointly organised awareness programmes during the Road Safety Week in all the districts of Jammu Division.
The aim of these programmes was to educate and promote road safety awareness among the road users particularly by emphasizing the two wheelers to wear helmets, motorist to fasten seat belt while driving and vehicle operators to maintain fitness of their vehicles, observing road signs, symbols and traffic rules.
A Road Safety Rally for creating mass awareness among the road users, general public and others was also organised which was flagged off by Chief Secretary Mr. S. S Kapoor during the Road Safety Week celebrations. Medical camps for transport operators, drivers and conductors were also organised. Besides other activities, 58 schools and colleges were covered by showing documentary, technical lectures and questionnaire from the students on the road safety measures.
