| Omar visits Srinagar hospital, MS, Deputy suspended | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, JAN 8: The Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, today paid a surprise visit to the Lal Ded Hospital, Valley's major maternity care institution, here today and took stock of its functioning. The Chief Minister was on way to the airport to fly back to Jammu when he suddenly decided to visit the hospital and see for himself its functioning. He went round various sections of the hospital and was dissatisfied with its condition. He found both the Medical Superintendent and the Deputy Medical Superintendent of the hospital absent and ordered their immediate replacement. The hospital has no full time Medical Superintendent and the charge had been additionally given to a senior faculty member of the Government Medical College, Srinagar. While going around the premises of the hospital, the Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the non-functioning of the central heating system, lack of cleanliness in and around the hospital, absence of water supply and a fair price medical shop. He issued on-the-spot instructions to clean the hospital premises, restore water supply as well as establish a round-the-clock open fair price shop to facilitate the patients. The Chief Minister also announced immediate computerization of the stores of the hospital and asked the authorities to activate their administrative machinery and ensure that all facilities are extended to the patients. Meanwhile, both the Medical Superintendent and Deputy Medical Superintendent have been replaced.
