Rahul's disqualification as per law, BJP Govt has no role: Kavinder
3/24/2023 11:02:04 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 24: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Friday termed the move of disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Parliament 'in accordance with law' as he clarified that BJP Government has nothing to do with this decision which is purely lawful and as per procedural norms.
In a statement issued to the media fraternity, the BJP stalwart said that Congress and other parties should take a lesson from this situation and should think hundreds of times before going public with controversial statements. He said that in politics the public representatives have a lot of responsibility and therefore they should not indulge in malicious mudslinging especially against any community or caste as the same is illegal and can have serious repercussions as in the case of Rahul Gandhi.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that the Modi Government has nothing to do with this action against the Congress leader because it is purely the Speaker's decision, which is legally accurate as convicted persons are debarred from Parliament as per the law. He however hit out at those blaming the BJP Government over the issue. He said that it was Congress which muzzled the voice of the media fraternity during the emergency and has jailed hundreds of innocents. He asked the political personalities to show restraint while public speaking or else the results could be 'suicidal' as there is a live example.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta led a deputation of residents of Channi Himmat to meet Managing Director Housing and discussed various issues being faced by them.
Kavinder asked Managing Director to take adequate steps in providing basic amenities to the people as stipulated by the government including a hospital in the vicinity. He asked the officer to review the policy of Housing Board to ensure convenience to the people living under the areas falling in its ambit. The senior BJP functionary also demanded allotment for land to construct a government dispensary in the vicinity to cater to the needs of the people as in absence of this healthcare facility people with small issues have to travel far for getting first-aid and other treatments for smaller ailments.
After giving a patient hearing to the deputation, the MD Housing assured to take adequate steps in early redressal of the problems of the residents of Channi Himmat area.
The deputation comprised of Rajkumar, Corporator and former Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee JMC, Kulbir Charak Convenor Sanskrit Art and Culture Cell BJP JKUT, Sudershan Gupta, Aman Gupta, Rommy Kumar, Sunil Malhotra, Ashwani Kohli and Rachit Khosla.
