JAMMU, Mar 25: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Mining Department today took a comprehensive review meeting of the department wherein apart from discussing multiple issues, explicit directions were issued to the officers of the department to make efforts in remaining days towards meeting financial targets set by the Government for 2022-23. The meeting was attended by both Head of Departments O.P Bhagat, Director Geology & Mining, District Mineral Officers, Vikram K.Gupta, Managing Director, J&K Minerals Limited and their respective officers including both Joint Directors Geology & Mining, Nisar Ahmed and Harbans Langeh , District Mineral Officers, Arun Kotwal, Additional Secretary, Geology & Mining Department and Aamir Rather, Deputy Secretary, Geology & Mining amongst others.
Secretary Mining Amit Sharma exhorted upon the officers of the department to meet respective targets without leaving any stone unturned for the said purpose. He appreciated the recent proactive approach adopted by the District Mineral Officers of the department who are taking stringent measures against habitual offenders through constant seizure of illegal vehicles and imposing befitting fines/penalties in almost all the districts during the last quarter of this financial year. He further mentioned that the same should be made more stringent in times to come in order to curb tendencies towards illegal mining in our already e-auctioned mining blocks.
Secretary Mining Amit Sharma was apprised by the Director G&M that a healthy e-auction amount has been fetched during ongoing e-auction of mining blocks in Kishtwar and Jammu districts and it is expected that more handsome e-bid amounts shall come from remaining blocks to the Government exchequer which was appreciated by the Chair.
A detailed discussion also took place regarding upcoming visit of Union Mines Secretary next week in which two important issues shall be discussed regarding proposed exploration works on precious Sapphire Mines in Padder area of Kishtwar and e-auction of major mineral blocks in the UT in the coming months for which Amit Sharma, Secretary Mining directed his team to do the necessary preparatory work while keep the facts and figures ready for same.
