DLSA Samba organises 3-day solid waste management awareness programme

SAMBA, Mar 25: Under the guidance of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba, Sonia Gupta and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Samba, a three-day awareness programme on “Solid Waste Management” was organised by Secretary DLSA Samba, Rekha Kapoor Nischal. The three-day “Solid Waste Management” programme which concluded today was organised by DLSA Samba in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Samba and District Pollution Control Committee Samba at three educational institutions in District Samba.
Three events were held as part of the “Solid Waste Management” programme. The first event was held at Dogra Law College, Bari Brahamana with Jodhraj Kumar, Executive Officer of Municipal Corporation, Bari Brahamana and Naveed Choudhary, Field Inspector of Pollution Control Committee, Samba as resource persons. The second event was held at Government Degree College Samba with Naveed Choudhary and Rameshwar Singh, I.E.C Head of Municipal Corporation Samba as resource persons and Vishal Sharma, Panel Advocate of DLSA Samba conducting the proceedings. The third event was held at Government Degree College Ramgarh with Anuradha, Scientist A of Pollution Control Committee Samba as the resource person and Hitesh Sharma, Panel Advocate of DLSA Samba conducting the proceedings.
The aim of the programme was to create awareness among college and law school students about solid waste management and to educate the general public about the importance of segregating waste and the negative effects of dumping garbage in public places.
The main objective was to teach students how to collect dry waste in bins and how to transport and dispose of solid material according to its nature.
This included separate collection, treatment and disposal of wet waste, dry waste and bio-medical waste.
