| Political groups equivocally hail Havana declaration | | | Srinagar,September,17 Several political groups including PDP, National Conference and Congress here on Sunday equivocally hailed Manmohan-Musharaff Havana declaration. Saying that the declaration has cleared the road for durable peace in the state, former Chief Minister and PDP Chief Patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed hailed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President General Parvez Musharaff for holding one-to-one talks in a congenial atmosphere. Calling upon Prime Minster Manmohan Singh and President Musharaff to continue efforts for peaceful and amicable settlement of Kashmir issue, if they are interested in gifting something special to the people of Jammu & Kashmir State. Talking to KNS, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti termed Havana declaration that has led to restoration of Indo-Pak dialogue process encouraging for people of Jammu & Kashmir State on whom Indo-Pak relations have a direct bearing. He also claimed that with the announcement Havana declaration, both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President General Parvez Musharaff have exhibited political maturity in carry forward the process of resolving all outstanding issues including that of Jammu & Kashmir state. Addressing a public rally at Suriyasyar Chrar-e-Sharief in Budgam district, National Conference president Omer Abdullah while terming Havan declaration a path breaking step in Indo-Pak reconciliation process hoped that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President General Parvez Musharaff would strive hard to bring durable peace to Indian Sub continent by resolving the long pending Jammu & Kashmir dispute. Terming Havana declaration a major breakthrough in Indo-Pak reconciliation process, CPI (M) Secretary, M.Y.Tarigami said that the restoration of Indo-Pak dialogue process is a historical step likely to have a direct bearing on the current political scenario in Jammu & Kashmir state. He also reiterated his demand for widening the base of dialogue process in the state. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Javed Ahmed Mir also termed the Havana declaration encouraging for the people of Jammu & Kashmir state and hoped that the step will generate new political warmth in Indo-Pak dialogue process. |
