District Level NCORD Committee meeting held

RAJOURI, Mar 28: Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal convened a meeting of the district level National Committee on Drug Demand Reduction (NCORD) Committee to discuss measures to tackle the growing drug menace in the district. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the current situation and proposed several interventions to reduce the number of drug abusers.
The DC directed that CCTV cameras be installed in all chemist and pharmacy shops as soon as possible. The police department has been directed to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras in their respective jurisdictions.
To prevent illegal drug activities, 235 raids have been carried out and 3 FIRs have been lodged. Four persons involved in illegal drug activities have also been arrested. The DC directed that special checkpoints be set up at the district's entry points to combat drug trafficking.
The drug detection centre and Additional Treatment Facility are both operating efficiently. The DC asked stakeholders to intensify awareness activities about the negative effects of drug abuse on health. An initiative called Nasha Mukt Panchayat under Nasha Mukt Bharat has also been launched, with 19 panchayats covered in the first phase.
Officers who attended the meeting include ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ADC Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar; PO ICDS, Shoket Mehmood Malik; ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; SDM Thanamandi, Vikas Dhar; ACD, Vijay Kumar; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DySP Hqr and other concerned officers.
