| A busy first day in office for Chief Minister | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 09 – Today being his first day in Civil Secretariat after taking over as the Chief Minister on Monday, Mr. Omar Abdullah spent a very busy day in office.
After the ceremonial reception accorded to him and inspecting Guard of Honour, he addressed a crowded press conference where he spelt out his priorities to provide good governance and meet the expectations of the people. After the press conference, the Chief Minister chaired the maiden cabinet meeting of the new ministry during which issues of immediate concern to the Government were discussed. The Chief Minister also had a meeting with all the Administrative Secretaries headed by the Chief Secretary. The newly-inducted ministers were also present in the meeting. As the time for Friday prayers drew close, the Chief Minister drove to the Jama Masjid, Gandhi Nagar and joined hundreds of devotees to offer the prayers. The Chief Minister returned to his office after prayers and disposed various files and met some deputations also. He worked in the office till late hours. The Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand, Ministers, Mr. A. R. Rather, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia and Mr. Sham Lal Sharma also attended their offices in the Civil Secretariat today.
