EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 9: The debating team of the University of Jammu, brought laurels by lifting the over- all runners-up trophy in the National Inter University debating contest conducted by the National Council for Co-operative Training New Delhi at Institute of Co-operative Management, Chinna Uddaippu, Madurai in (Tamil Nadu) Besides the trophy, cash prizes were also awarded to the participants. The participants Indu Baga, and Vandana Sharma both from the govt Women College Gandhi Nagar, Jyoti Sharma from the Govt Women College, Udhampur and Dimple Sharma from the Department of law, University of Jammu. The team was led by public relation officer welfare, Vinay Thusso. The topic of the debate was in the opinion of “Loan Waiver scheme of Government of India, benefits Co-operatives” Forty three teams from all over India expressed their views for and against the motion in English and Hindi languages. The contest was inaugurated by Sitaram Chouchan Vice President, NCUI. Bhagwathi Prasad, Director General, National Council for Cooperative Training, presided over the inaugural ceremony Dr T Parajothi, secretary National Council for cooperative training, delivered the welcome address and Dr, Ram Murty, Dean, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, presented the key note address. Jitendra Nath, Registrar of cooperative society, Tamil Nadu, was the chief guest at the time of valedictory function. Meanwhile, Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Kuldeep K Sharma, Chairman, campus cultural committee also congratulated the team members for this deistinction.
