Shasthang, Chanpsa bridges completed in record time
1/9/2009 9:22:00 PM
Leh: Jan 09- The Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Chhering Dorje will inaugurate two bridges one at Shasthang and another at Chanspa over Leh Nallha tomorrow. These bridges were constructed by the Indian Army under Sadbawana Programme.
The work on these bridges was started on August 1 last year and has been completed in a record time of five months.
It is pertinent to mention that these two bridges, besides the Yurthung Bridge over Leh Nallha were washed away during the flash flood in 2006. The new bridge at Yurthung have already completed by the Hill Council funds and dedicated to the public by the CEC earlier. The construction of these vital bridges will give a big boost to the tourism in the desert region and also help to decongest traffic within the Leh city.
