| Demolition to remove encroachments on migrant land begins at Pulwama | | | Pulwama,September 17: The district administration in Pulwama on Sunday started demolishing residential house to remove encroachments on a vast land area measuring 4000 kanalas. Reports reaching Srinagar indicate that vacation of migrant land was stopped due to illegal occupation of 6 marlas of land, the ownership rights of which are vested with on Prem Nath s/O Jialal, by a local Congress councilors Moh Abdullah and Farooq Ahmed Wani. It has been learnt that Prem Nath registered a case before State Accountability Commission in July 2006 following which the Commissioner ordered Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to remove encroachments on migrant land. Complying directions of the Commission, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama vide his office letter no: DCP/SQ/Mig/06/170 directed Sub Divisional Magistrate to implement the orders of the Commission. Consequently SDM Shopian constituted a team of officers comprising SDPO, SHO, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar for demolishing the illegal structures. The team bulldozed the illegal structures including the encroachments raised by Congress councilor. More over the illegal structure raised by Mohd Sultan Teli S/O Gh Qadir on Khasra no: 211 and Farooq Ahmed Sheikh S/O Ab Khaliq on Khasra no:180 were demolished. It has been learnt that one Zahoor Ahmed , official of the local municipal committee, was arrested for trying to create hurdles in the demolition drive. Interestingly Revenue Department has already notified 4000 migrant land on which illegal structures have been raised in Shopian. |
