| Forces gathering Bhatti Dhar failure reasons | | | Early Times Report Jammu, January 09-Even after the nine-day operations launched by the troops to eliminate the holdup militants in Bhatti Dhar forest belt of Mendhar area of Poonch proved a failure the search operations in the adjacent forest areas continued for the 10th day today. Soon after militants’ guns fell silent from their hideouts, the troops carried out a search operation but there was neither any sign of terrorists nor any weapons or ammunition could be recovered. Only one cooking gas cylinder and some ration material had been recovered. Sleuths of various intelligence agencies have started investigations as to find what went wrong and how the holed up militants were able to escape the cordon. Earlier, the Army sources, basing their information on aerial survey, had revealed that more than 11 terrorists had taken position in one hideout. These intelligence agencies were examining whether some local people provided logistic support to the holed up militants in jumping the Army cordon that had been laid some seven days ago. The sleuths of these intelligence agencies have been asked to find out the fate of those four militants whom the Army had claimed to have been gunned down six days ago because not a single body has been so far recovered. Official sources said that the troops have been asked to carry out search operations in a 10-km forest area of Bhatti Dhar so that even if the militants had escaped from one spot they would be hiding somewhere in the adjacent area.
