| BENGAL MINISTERS REACHING KASHMIR TO ACCESS THE SITUATION | | | July 11 : A high level delegation comprising group of ministers from West Bengal will be arriving in Srinagar on Wednesday to ensure safe return of tourists injured in the serial grenade blasts in Srinagar to their home state. Arrangements were being made to shift the dead bodies of tourists from West Bengal.
Five tourists including three women were among seven killed in the serial blasts in Srinagar on Tuesday.
State Tourism Minister Manab Mukherjee will be the head of the delegation. Besides this, the group of ministers will also access the ground situation in Kashmir and hold meetings with Jammu and Kashmir state government to ensure safety of tourists travelling from West Bengal to Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the group of ministers are expected to hold detailed discussions with the higher officials of the state government to introduce effective survelliance for all tourists at sensitive locations to avoid loss of innocent human lives in grenade attacks, cross firings in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier when tourists from West Bengal were injured in the similar attack the Bengal government made it clear it would not issue any advisory to prospective tourists against visiting Kashmir. “This will only serve the cause of the terrorists who want tourists not to visit Kashmir so that the efforts to bring back normality in the valley fail. The state government will not comply with the terrorists’ designs,’’ state tourism minister Manab Mukherjee had stated.
