| BJP legislators call on Omar | | Party to play role of constructive opposition: Gupta | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 10- The BJP Legislators led by their leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, today called upon the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and conveyed their views about the basic issues including that of discrimination against Jammu and the problems facing the people. Describing it as a courtesy call, the BJP leader said that his party would play the role of constructive opposition and raise the issues of their agenda within and outside the legislature. Amongst these issues the Delimitation of Assembly as also those of Lok Sabha constituencies would be the major one, he added. Prof. Gupta said that it was a strange situation that Jammu has not been given due share neither in the Assembly nor in the Lok Sabha. In this regard, he pointed out that Udhampur Lok Sabha Constituency alone is having the bigger area than that of Kashmir Valley but the Kashmir Valley is having three Lok Sabha seats and 46 in the Assembly. The other problems brought to the notice of the Chief Minster also included the withdrawal of the warrants of arrests issued against Sant Dinesh Bharti and cases registered against certain persons during the Sangarsh Samiti agitation. The crisis facing the people because of big cuts in the supply of electricity was also brought to his notice of the Chief Minister. During the interaction with the Chief Minster the Kisan Morcha leader and MLA, Sukhnandan Kumar raised the problems of farmers, especially with regard to inordinate delay in supplying seeds and fertilizers Baldev Raj Sharma expressed concern over the reports for changing alignment of railway line under construction in Reasi-Mahore areas. The issue pertaining to other sections of the people also figured in the meeting. The matter about Rs. 24,000 crore package announced by the Prime Minister over four years back also came under discussion during the meeting. The Pradesh BJP President Ashok Khajuria, Bharat Bhushan, Jagidsh Raj Sapolia, Durga Dass and Master Lal Chand also accompanied the delegation..
