‘Govt. amends leave rules for employees’

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17 - State government has amended the Civil Service (Leave) Rules, 1979 for the government employees participating in trekking expeditions organized by Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI) as well as expeditions having approval of Indian Mountaineering Federation.
Under the amended Civil Service (Leave) Rules, which is notified as SRO-171 dated June 07, 2004, the government employee participating in the expeditions organized by YHAI and Indian Mountaineering Federation can now avail special causal leave to extent of 30 days.
Informing about the amended leave rules, while chairing a meeting of members of State Youth Hostel Association of India here this morning, President J&K YHAI Mr. Mohammad Shafi Pandit, who is also Chairman Jammu and kashmir Public service Commission also apprised about the offer from President Indian Mountaineering Federation Mr. N.N. Vohra to work in collaboration with YHAI for undertaking mountaineering and trekking expeditions, both at national and international level.
Pandit, who suggested that sports and healthy interaction amongst youth is the best way to not only groom their personality but also in changing their mindset, said that to expose the youth to the glorious traditions of Kashmiriyat, the Youth Hostel Association of India is also setting up an International Peace Learning Centre at the quaint finery of Kashmir University campus in the summer capital of the state.
The erection of International Peace Learning Centre, exclusively devoted to the cause of ensuring world peace by making earnest endeavours in conflict resolutions, Jammu and Kashmir becomes the first state in the country to have such a Centre, while globally it is 12th such centre where peace studies would be fostered.
Dwelling on the finer points of the International Peace Learning Centre, President Youth Hostel Association of India Mr. Mohammad Shafi Pandit that the necessary funding for construction and architectural aesthetics, which would in keeping with the requirements of international centre is being provided by the Youth Hostel Association of India. ‘It would indeed be a architectural marvel in terms of its composition and design’, said Mr. Pandit, adding that the picturesque grandeur of Kashmir University campus would render in divine magnificence to the centre.
Mr. Pandit said that the place would be focal place for interactions with the youth from various countries visiting the international centre to bridge ties and peace bonds. He said that boosting composite and pluralistic ethos particularly among the youth would be the emphasis of the centre thereby letting the expanse in wider perspective. He said that Peace Learning Centre’s objectives could be narrated well in the famous verse of noted poet Iqbal, ‘majhab nahi sikhata aapas me bar rakhna…’
