| Centre sanctions 7 irrigation projects in Leh involving Rs 47 cr | | | Early Times Report Leh: Jan 10- Seven major irrigation projects involving cost of nearly Rs.47 crores have been sanctioned by the Centre for Ladakh district under ‘Accelerated irrigation project’. This was disclosed by the Executive Councilor, Agriculture Tsering Norboo Lampa while talking to the media persons here today. He said the projects sanctioned include Gunes-thang Irrigation Canal at Bogdang Rs. 8.58 crore canal at Takmachik, Rs.9 crore Guntsas-thang Nimmu canal, besides irrigation canals at Trith, Skuru Nallah, Pada-thang Takshi and at Chhuthang . Giving details of ultimate potential of these projects, Lampa said that as many as 3,831 hectares of new land would be brought under cultivation. Lampa said that survey work of Gunes-thang Nimoo has already been completed while survey on Wanla-Takmachik canal is presently going on. He said that in view of the sanctioning of these important projects, the survey on other projects would be carried out very soon and execution works would be started during next season.
