Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 9: "Jammu is fast changing and various cultural activities besides infrastructural developments are opening up new vistas for tourists and also bringing in ample opportunities for our people. The International Film Festival going on at Jammu and the opening up of Tulip Garden at Sanasar are a couple of such activities that are attracting tourists as well as artists in a big way."
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who added that Sanasar started experimenting with Tulips a couple of years ago and today more than 2.5 lakh Tulips of red, yellow, white, and purple colours, spread across 40 Kanals picturesque area of Sanasar, are attracting tourists in a big way. He said, this is the beginning of the transformation of Jammu, where more such projects are going to be unveiled in near future. Once completed, they all will transform many lives and open up employment opportunities as well.
Criticising the previous governments for not paying any attention towards the cultural as well as infrastructural development, Raman Suri said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s administration has touched those spheres where the precious governments didn't venture. Even after spending millions of rupees on projects like the River View Front and Tawi Barrage, these governments abandoned the projects but the LG administration has revived them and are going to dedicate them to the public in a time-bound manner.
Today, when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has thrown open the beautiful Tulip Garden for public tomorrow, visitors are heading towards the picturesque Sanasar that is offering a lifetime opportunity to be amongst the green areas and see Tulips in full bloom. Those who cannot afford to visit Kashmir can come here to see how Tulips have added to the scenic beauty of Sanasar lake and are attracting tourists besides domestic travellers.
Raman Suri said, same is the case with Jammu Film Festival wherein short films from India, Russia, United Kingdom, Israel, Turkey, France, and United States are being screened at Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), which is attracting artists and delegates from all over India. Over 50 feature films, short films, and documentaries from 11 countries are being screened which are also providing the artists an opportunity to showcase their talent and interact with filmmakers from other parts of the world.
