| Draft electoral rolls for J&K for LS polls on Jan 15 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 11: The Draft Electoral Rolls in Jammu and Kashmir for the coming Lok Sabha elections shall be published on January 15 and claims and objections filed from January 16 to 30. The period for photography of residual and new electors of DPL is January 20 to January 30.
The Jammu and Kashmir election office has ordered revision of electoral rolls and issuing of Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC).
Official sources said a meeting of representatives of different political parties was held in south Kashmir district of Kulgam under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner for apprising them about the schedule issued by Election Commission of India (ECI) for summary revision of electoral rolls with January 01, 2009 as qualifying date for registration. During the seven-phase Assembly election in the state, while many people alleged that they were not issued EPIC, there were others who said their names did not figure in the voter list. Some of the people also alleged that the voter lists also contained the names of the dead. The participants in the meeting were explained the appointment of Booth Level Agents by Political Parties for enabling them to identify those eligible for registration as voters and modus operandi to be adopted for identification of dead and shifted voters.
