| Mir warns non-performing engineers | | Be responsive: He says | | JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17 -Exhorting upon engineers to be more responsive to the people’s development needs, Minister for PHE and Irrigation Mr. Dillawar Mir today asked them to follow the footsteps of those who carved a niche for themselves in this highly technical profession by doing pioneering work in evolving innovative methodology. Chairing a meeting to review the progress achieved in implementation of various schemes here this afternoon, the Minister directed them to devise comprehensive plans taking care of plugging vulnerable and exposed areas. Mr. Mir said that the flash flood rendered many areas susceptible especially where irrigation schemes are being executed and needs urgently to be worked upon. He instructed the engineers to make necessary repairs on these areas so that they could be prevented from further damage. The Minister also complimented the engineers for their splendid accomplishments in addressing to the people’s water and irrigation concerns. ‘The work of engineers was remarkable as braved out inclement weather conditions and remained agile day-in and day-out in ensuring water supply to those areas which were hit hard’, he said, adding that the spirit of working tirelessly and pro-actively must be carried on with renewed zeal and dedication. Emphasizing upon engineers to implement the government policies and plans in right perspective, Mr. Mir said that the non-performers would not be tolerated. He said all the non-performing functionaries would be phased out from the engineering wing. ‘People’s interest is supreme and non-performance is a sin’, he asserted, adding that all the schemes and plans must necessarily be executed within stipulated time frame. He said that those violating time frame mechanism too would be dealt as defaulters. |
