BJP Kissan Morcha to play major role, under guidance of PM Modi: Rekha Mahajan

JAMMU, Apr 18: To promote the legacy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu South RS Pura activities today held a meeting of the important pillar "Kissan Morcha" to strengthen the party at the ground level at Kumar Palace Kullian, RS Pura Constituency falls under Jammu District South.
The meeting was presided over by President District Jammu South Rekha Mahajan along with State President BJP Kissan Morcha Sarabjit Singh Johal. During the meeting, upgrading Kissan Morcha further enhance the farmers-friendly policies was discussed threadbare by the senior party leaders.
District General Secretary Akash Chopra, District Prabhari Tarsem Sharma, Gen Sec Kisan morcha Rakesh Pant, Vice President Harbans Choudhary, Balbir Kaur, Sec kulbir kour, Mandal President RSPura Miran Sahib Bikram Sandhu and other prominent were present in the meeting.
The program was organized by Kissan Morcha District President Jammu South Gurdeep Pakaya.
Rekha Mahajan showed his satisfaction with the working of the Kisan Morcha unit. She said that the BJP government has made the schemes for the welfare of farmers a reality on the ground. This is the reason why today even the youth are enthusiastically moving towards farming. From the fertility of the land to water, fertilizers, electricity, seeds, and crop insurance for agriculture, major attention was given. Rekha asserted that PM Modi-led government is making loans available to the farmers at zero percent. The BJP government has created a means of fixed income for the farmers in the form of Samman Nidhi. The Center and the State together send Rs 10,000 to each farmer's account, farmers are getting the benefit of this. She said that we aim to make the farmers self-reliant. She asked them to organize mass awareness programs in the rural areas as well as in panchayats and their adjoining areas to ensure that the schemes of the Central government like Kisaan Sammaan Nidhi KCC card, veterinary schemes, fishers, and agriculture schemes reach the intended farmer population. she further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi to has emphasized the need for organic farming during his Man Ki Baat, Rekha said. She highlighted that before 2014, the outlay for the agricultural budget stood at Rs 39,000 crore and under the BJP rule, it has been increased to Rs 1.35 lakh crore. While the former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee introduced Kisan Credit Cards, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought animal husbandry and fisheries under the scheme, she said. Rekha added that it is the BJP government that is working for the welfare of farmers. She said that under the Kisan Samman Yojna, financial assistance of ?6,000 is being given to farmers which helps them purchase seeds and fertilizers.
Sarabjit Singh stated that Jammu and Kashmir government on distributed funds for Rs 3156 crore has been allocated in Budget 2023-24 to create an enabling environment for transforming J&K's agriculture and allied sectors to increase farmer income, ensure food security and accelerate UT's economic growth. He said a Holistic Agriculture Development plan will be rolled out, with 29 proposed projects at an outlay of Rs 5012 crore throughout the next 5 years. Laying stress on adopting a proactive approach, he said to empower the farmers to store their produce for better returns, Government will create a 67000 Metric tons CA Storage Capacity.
Rekha emphasized that the J&K government under Modi leadership is encouraging and aiding private players to set up cold storage (CA) facilities to reduce post-harvest losses by increasing the shelf life of various agriculture and horticulture products, as well as to address the issue of distressed crop sales by farmers.
Morcha District General Secretary Pawan Kumar Conducted the proceedings of the program.
