Police seizes Rs 9.35 lakh cash in Ramban

JAMMU, Apr 18: Suspecting tax evasion, police have seized cash worth Rs 9.35 lakhs from two persons in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Police spokesman on Tuesday said that PSI Vinod Kumar Saini of Police Station Dharamkund along with a police party during patrolling intercepted one vehicle coming from Ramban towards Dharamkund. Police said that the car was driven by Shabir Ahmed of Bohardar Neel, Tehsil Ramsoo, District Ramban and during checking, one person namely Tariq Ahmed Ahmed of Nadika, Tehsil Khari, District Ramban, who was sitting on co-driver seat was carrying a bag.
"When frisked, 1870 notes of (500) denomination total amounting to Rs 9,35,000/- was found and on questioning, he disclosed that he is working with a contractor but failed to justify the possession of such a huge amount of cash," said police.
