| Governor, CM, Ministers greet people on Lohri | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 11: Governor, NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Ministers have extended Lohri greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a message, the governor urged the people to celebrate this festival collectively, in the traditional spirit of harmony, peace and togetherness. " Let this Lohri bring cheer and happiness to all", he said, wishing the people a prosperous and peaceful New Year. He emphasized that the festival celebrated by various communities in Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu regions were an important component of the State's composite cultural heritage which had, over the centuries, contributed to fostering the bonds of brotherhood, amity and secular ethos. Vohra prayed for complete restoration of sustained peace and normalcy in the State and for the complete revival of the traditional communal harmony. The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has also extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasions of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. In a message of felicitations, the Chief Minister said that the festivals are an important component of our composite cultural heritage and secular traditions, which strengthen bonds of harmony and brotherhood. Wishing a happy Lohri and Makar Sankranti to the people, Mr. Abdullah prayed for peace and prosperity of the State. Meanwhile, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora has greeted the people of the State on the eve of Lohri festival. In a message of greetings, Mr. Jora said that such festivals help in strengthening brotherhood, harmony, amity and secular ethos, which are an important component of our composite heritage. The Minister wished the people a happy Lohri and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State.
