| CM does surprise check in City | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 11: In a gesture synonym with the changes of guards, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today made surprise appearances at various government establishments in the City and surfed records of a Police station and hospital. During surprise visit to the Grid Station at Gladni, the Chief Minister inspected the periodic maintenance schedule chart. He expressed concern over the fire safety measures and directed the concerned authorities to conduct the fire safety audit and submit the report within 24 hours. At SMGS Hospital, the Chief Minister inspected various wards in the maternity section, interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. He also checked the doctors' duty roster register and appreciated the functioning of the hospital. Abdullah also inspected the fair price medical shop in the hospital complex and took stock of the availability of the medicines. Later, the Chief Minister also had a round of the newly-constructed multi-storey 200-bedded paediatric block, having 30-bedded paediatric surgery ward, which forms the part of the centrally-sponsored upgradation project of the Government Medical College, Jammu, to the AIIMS level. The Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh informed the Chief Minister that the building of the paediatric block has been completed but posts of doctors and specialists to man this 200-bedded block are to be sanctioned. During his visit to the Police Station, Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister, while checking the daily diary register of the police station, found that it was not updated. He issued instructions to the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mr. K. Rajendra and Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Mr. Manohar Singh, who were present on the occasion, to conduct an enquiry and take immediate action into the matter. The Chief Minister also inspected reporting room, computer room, record room, crime section and under-construction new modern building for the Gandhinagar Police Station. Meanwhile, an immediate enquiry was conducted and prima-facie the negligence on the part of the Munshi of the Police Station, ASI Bashir Ahmad was established and SSP, Jammu placed him under suspension. The SSP has also ordered an enquiry into the mater to be conducted by SP Headquarters, Jammu, who will submit the findings within three days. The Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana also accompanied Abdullah during the visit.
