JAMMU, Apr 21: Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a meeting with District Electoral Officers to review the progress on the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls. Pertinently, the date for filing claims and objections regarding the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls has been extended to May 6, 2023.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed the progress achieved in the districts and inquired about the number of applications received, as well as the number of claims and objections. He instructed District Electoral Officers to conduct revisions according to guidelines and schedule, and to expedite the process for achieving targets. He also asked them to ensure timely disposal of claims and objections.
The Divisional Commissioner directed District Electoral Officers to complete the revision of the special summary, including the addition of new voters and deletion of duplicate voters, within the extended date. He also instructed them to pass instructions to all officers and officials associated with the Special Summary Revision (SSR) to work with dedication and zeal to complete the exercise in a time-bound manner with 100 percent enrolment of eligible voters.
District Electoral Officers were instructed to ensure that the list of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), along with their contact numbers, is uploaded on websites and pasted on notice boards for public information. It was reported that various mega camps have been organised in districts for young voters' awareness. The Divisional Commissioner stressed organising special camps and campaigns in colleges and villages, as well as door-to-door campaigns for achieving targets.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy DEOs of Jammu, Kathua and other concerned officers while all other District Election Officers participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
