| Gupta for withdrawal of PSA against Dinesh Bharti | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 12-Strongly pleading for withdrawal of arrest warrants against Sant Dinesh Bharti, the BJP Legislators party leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has taken strong objection for keeping the matter lingering on although the secessionists and pro-Pak leaders arrested before the polls have since been released.
He said that this indicates volumes about the mindset of the Government leaders but if the warrants were not withdrawn at the earliest, the prevailing tension can assume serious proportions.
Prof. Gupta was addressing Lohri celebration function organized by the Sanatan Dharm Sabha at Geeta Bhawan.
The arrest warrants under PSA against Sant Dinesh Bharti were issued during the Swami Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti agitation for restoration of land to the Shrine Board.
He said that an intriguing situation prevails in this State that those who burnt the national flags and indulged in anti-national slogans in the Valley of Kashmir during the land row, have since been released but despite promises the PSA against Dinesh Bharti has not been withdrawn and he (Bharti) had telephoned that while the people are celebrating Lohri all over Jammu and elsewhere, he is away from even his Ashram which has been put in a sad state of affairs.
Referring to the demand of Shri Sanstan Dharm Sabha for getting released the grants of S D Sabha Schools, Prof. Gupta said that to impart education to the children is the duty of the Government but it sounds strange the Government has stopped the grants of the schools controlled by S D Sabha. The BJP would take up the issue with the new Government, he assured.
He also narrated the importance of the festivals including that of Lohri and said these festivals create social unity amongst the society.
At the function, the Sanatan Dharma Sabha honoured Prof. Gupta and the Pradesh BJP President, Ashok Khajuria on their being elected to the State Assembly.
Mayor JMCf Kavinder Gupta and Senior BJP leader Dharni Dhar Sharma were also honoured by presenting Shawls.
The function was organized under the stewardship of Dr. Balwant Rai of the Sabha.
Large number of people attended the function where the children of S D Sabha schools presented their cultural program.
