SRINAGAR, Apr 24: Weather to remain dry and warm even as the night temperature stays below normal in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Meteorological Department forecast of mainly dry weather warmer days coupled with scattered light rain during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir.
It said the weather will remain generally Cloudy and there is a possibility of Rain or snowfall over higher reaches at some places during April 26 to 28.
An independent weather observer Faizan Arif told UNI that a western disturbance is likely to hit Jammu and Kashmir on April 26 and under its influence thundershowers can occur at many places in Kashmir and a few areas in Jammu region with maximum chances towards late afternoon, evening and night. He said there are chances of gusty winds and hailstorm at many places.
The minimum temperature has improved but stays below normal all across the Kashmir valley on Monday. However, there was gradual improvement in day temperature with bright sunshine.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.1 degree Celsius against 3.4 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 3.8 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season.
However, the maximum temperature was 0.2 degree Celsius above normal of 22.3 degree Celsius on Monday.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national had a low of 3.6 degree Celsius against 2.2 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 3.9 degree Celsius below normal for the gateway of Kashmir.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir experienced 0.5 degree Celsius against minus 1.2 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 3.5 degree Celsius below normal for the tourist hot spot.
Kokernag had a low of 6.2 degree Celsius against 2.2 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 1.4 degree Celsius below normal for the picnic spot of south Kashmir.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 3.2 degree Celsius against minus 1.5 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 0.1 degree below normal for the famous ski resort of north Kashmir.
Kupwara recorded a low of 3.7 degree Celsius against 2.2 degree Celsius and it was 3.9 degree Celsius below normal for the frontier Kashmir district, the MeT office said.
